join our journey: be a helmet hero
My Story
What started as a personal mission has blossomed into a community movement. Featured in local news 10 times in a year, I've been humbled by the incredible support from local businesses and sponsors who've joined our cause. Each helmet represents more than protection - it's a symbol of hope, community, and resilience.
The local police have been my true heroes, standing alongside me in this mission. Their support reminds me of another pivotal moment in my life - when a Swedish nurse and a New York State Trooper saved me after my bicycle accident. Though I may never fully thank them, I'm dedicating my life to paying forward the kindness I've received.
Our current goal is ambitious but achievable: 180 helmets for a local elementary school. Each helmet represents a life protected, a future secured.
This is more than a project. This is a promise - a promise to protect, to heal, and to transform lives, one helmet at a time.
At 14, I was one of the smallest kids in school, facing daily bullying that threatened to break my spirit. But I refused to be a victim. Rain or snow, I chose my bicycle as an escape, pedaling to school to avoid the tormentors who made the bus ride unbearable.
During one winter storm, my resilience was tested in the most harrowing way. Unknown to me, bullies had sabotaged my bicycle brakes. As I sped down a hill towards dangerous traffic, I made a split-second decision that would change my life forever - steering into the grass, ending up head-first in a ditch. The result was spinal trauma and PTSD, but more importantly, an unbreakable spirit.
My journey of healing became a mission of hope.
When I moved to Thailand, a PTSD trigger on a busy road revealed a critical problem: children riding without helmets. That moment sparked a transformation. I researched extensively, finding a local Thai manufacturer producing the highest-quality, safety-certified children's helmets in Asia.
With just three helmets and unwavering determination, I approached the local Pattaya police. Their support was immediate and heartwarming. That first day, protecting three children, I discovered my true calling. The joy of making a difference was indescribable.
